You can get a little more current capacity out of it if you were to do that. The two identical chips at the end of the receiver where the power in and motor outputs connect are the motor drivers. According to DelTang, the max rating with heatsink is 1.5A. Also, important to note, the stated current ratings are at 100% throttle, motor stalled, and a supply voltage of 16V. The area of the heat sink should be at least the same size as the receiver.
